TRENTON - Shortly after 6 a.m. this morning on MTV, Trenton's hip-hop scene collid with pot and politics. A political ad supporting Ed "NJWEEDMAN" Forchion's upcoming run for Burlington County Freeholder, featuring Brooklynn native-turned Trentonian Carlos Cruz, aka, The infamous Los, began its one-day, 26 slot run on MTV.

The ad ran in Burlington County last week and now the 30 second spot is hitting the capital city and its surrounding area. More than just blowing smoke for Forchion's Legalize Marijuana Party and the politics of pot, Los said the commercials are a call to the polls for a politically silent generation of hip-hoppers.

"Hopefully it will get people in thier vote and make thier opinions clear," said Cruz, 25. "Its time to get the hip-hop community into the political process. It doesn't matter how you vote, just VOTE."

The ad showcases notable Trenton landmarks like the State Police Headquaters, City Hall and the State House.

Los emerged on the national scence as one of the more vocal emcees to take up the LEGALIZE MARIJUANA cause. Traveling the pot proponent circuit with WEEDMAN -from the NEW YORK HEMPFEST in battery park, to political engagements at Ohio University - Los is quickly making a name for himself. Los said he will also be featured in the September edition of High Times Magazine.

Los and his manager, Victor Luna, of Lunavision Entertainment, said they were drawn to NJWEEDMAN and his cause when they learned of his "incarceration for speaking his mind".

P.S. - Exactly 2 years ago, on 8/17/2002 the TRENTONIAN wrote a story about NJWEEDMAN airing political ad's, and the State responded by jailing him for 5 months!
