| Maintaining an
illusion of freedom is much safer than the imposition of
naked tyranny. Raw tyranny can only be safely imposed
upon "sinners." About the only way individual
"sinners" can get public attention is by
getting themselves arrested resisting tyranny and
oppression. - (statehouse

Sometime soon, a man named Ed Forchion
will go on trial in New Jersey again, charged with
Conspiracy and possession of over 40 pounds of marijuana.
Forchion, a former truck driver turned medical marijuana
supplier and a practicing Rastafarian, faces up to 30
years in prison as a conscientious objector in the War on
(some) Drugs; even so, he'll act as his own defense
counsel.(again) The Camden County Public Defender's
Office refused to defend, or assist Mr. Forchion because
of his planned defense's -Religion,
Medical, and Open advocation of Jury Nullification in his
first trial. Hopefully on Dec 1, 2000 Judge Thompson
will allow the plea agreement to be voided. For
most people, this would be quite a challenge, but
Forchion's defense is simple: He says that the government
has no business telling people what they can put into
their own bodies and wants the jury to refuse to enforce
the law. Diane is organizing the Nov. 4th,
Liberty Protest at the Liberty Bell and has been
arrested protesting the WoD twice . Both arrests were
executed at protests with Dr. Heicklen at Penn State. She
has also been a journalist against the WoD, having
written for a Knight-Ridder entertainment weekly and
fired from that job for her views on legalizing weed and
reforming our hysterical and cruel system. She continued
freelance writing against the Drug War and her writings
have been published by HIGH TIMES Magazine as well. She
organized Dr. Heicklen's Smokeout Protests for two years
and spoke at numerous festivals and direct actions. She
was recognized for her efforts by HIGH TIMES in January
1999 as Freedom Fighter of the Month. Cheryl has suffered from multiple
sclerosis since 1971. She and husband Jim have been
active since 1993 in the struggle to change the laws
which prevent medical access to cannabis. James S. Miller
has been an advocate of Medical Marijuana since 1991,
when he discovered it's effectiveness in treating his
wife Cheryl's painful spasticity resulting from multiple
sclerosis. He founded The
Cherylheart Project in 1999 with Gary Sage. "Whether or
not you care about marijuana is unimportant. This battle
is no more about marijuana than the Boston Tea Party was
about tea. What is important about medical marijuana is
that 73% of the country supports this issue, while
virtually all our elected officials oppose it. This is
not an issue you need to explain to people like taxes or
school vouchers. People know that those currently in
office are lying and are even willing to arrest and jail
sick people to uphold their failed drug policies."
- Steve Kubby ran for Gov. of California in 1998, Jan
1999 he & his wife were arrested for his legal
medical marijuana garden. This is they most important
marijuana trial in this country ever.
An
activist for most of his adolescent and adult life,
Mr. Sage has taken part in a number of political actions
against many aspects of Political Tyranny. His web site Babe's Tea Room was created
in 1997, and is well known by many on-line activists. He
is artist, a poet, and occasional philosopher. At the
Cherylheart project, he performs a great many
communication and organizational tasks, and continues to
take part in public protests against those politicians
who are still wrongheaded regarding drug policy. He also
designs and maintains web sites for Cherylheart and a
number of other drug policy organizations. Professor Emeritus of Chemistry (also
known affectionately at Penn State as "The Pot
Smoking Professor), arrested a total of 13 times
protesting the War on Drugs, . He is running for Pa.
Attorney Gen.(2000) under the Libertarian Party ticket
and vows to release all non-violent drug offenders. He is
also the founder of Smart on Crime, a citizen's lobbying
group for Prison Reform. Because of his efforts, he was
recognized as HIGH TIMES Magazine Freedom Fighter of May
1998. "Doc" has been known to only smoke joints
at his direct actions as a form of civil disobedience,
refuses to voluntarily be arrested and resorts to passive
resistance. He has also been known to shoosh away the
police when they try to interrupt them, likening them to
gestapo chiefs, and berating them for turning against
their own people. He's a hero !!! I would love to include every single freedom/marijuana activist world-wide. I just don't know them all, so if you'd like to add some-one to this "HEMP HERO'S page" just add a link to them SUBMIT URL HERE.
The war on drugs is a war on "we the people" and our freedoms not drugs. If there is any doubt just click on the below link, and picture below.
