Most dangerous city in America!

The effects of the drug war on African Communities

(NJ) - Two weeks ago the MORGAN QUITNO CORPORATION released a report citing CAMDEN N.J. as the most dangerous city in America. For the last 2 weeks throughout the state I’ve read one claim after another as to “WHY” this is so from the usual group of “politicians” or intellectuals the press goes to for comments.

Camden City councilman Ali Sloan-El (Nov. 22 USA today) say’s, “we must give our people jobs, training and opportunity”, who pointed out that “Camden’s poverty is an important contributing factor to its high crime rate”. True brother Ali but wrong answer as to “WHY”. The State’s highest law enforcement officer brother Peter Harvey the New Jersey Attorney General is contemplating redeployment of state troopers to Camden, his spokesman Paul Loriguet say’s, “obviously the Attorney General is extremely concerned about this ranking. He is studying the matter as we speak”. (CP-11/24) Another wrong answer, bringing troopers would actually make the matter worst and probably end up costing some “minority” resident his life! What brother Harvey should be doing is advocating drug policy reform which would make many cities safer.

Jeffery Brenner director of the Walter Rand Institute for Public Affairs at Rutgers-Camden like-wise wants to bring in more cops. (Philadelphia Inquirer 12/9/04 – ‘Anticrime Strategy key for Camden’) Who said, “Attacking the city’s public-safety crisis immediately is essential for revitalization. The key to an anticrime effort must be sound strategy guided by a strong empirical assessment and supported by the criminal-justice system as well as key community leaders”. In other words ATTACK the community, put it under government siege, enforce the asinine policies with the brutality and racism of the court system utilizing our chosen local puppets and overseer’s. Similar to how our EMPIRE internationally has used locals like Hamid Karzai and Iyad Allawi in Afghanistan and Iraq respectively.

I have the answer and have been advocating it for years but fear revealing it may “again put my freedom in jeopardy”. My answer “the #1 reason Camden is the most dangerous city in America is because our nations “RACIST WAR ON DRUGS”, note I didn’t say “drugs”. I said, “The racist war on drugs is the cause”, our governments policy is the reason. “The number 2 reason is the failure of minorities and minority leaders to get active in repealing the racist laws that support the racist inspired, failed drug war”.

For two weeks now I’ve heard one goofy way of correcting this after another and not once have I heard anyone say, legalize drugs. The only answer that would truly reduce crime dramatically in Camden and cities like Camden is legalization. Legalize drugs and over half the crime(s) would dis-appear within days, drugs would no longer be on the streets but in stores. They would be taxed and regulated and no-one would kill for prime street corners. Most drug related killings aren’t people high on drugs killing people anyway but dis-agreements within the illegal trade, or a fear that someone is cooperating with authorities and they are killed to silence them, these killings would end if drugs were legal. Thus making Camden a safer place to live!

To the consternation of Government and religious leaders (both black and white) I’ve been advocating this for years to protect my community. In 2002 I was even jailed for 5 months (August 19th- Jan 24th, 2003) by N.J. Government officials for attempting to put “political ads” on Comcast cable calling for an end to the “WAR on DRUGS” and maintaining my website where I advocate legalization. Brother Harvey actually fought in Federal Court to keep me in jail for this. So you may understand my fear of voicing my opinion on this subject once again. (For those of you who think we have free speech in this country just visit my website: www.njweedman.com.) There is a reason the Government tried to silence me with imprisonment, I’m right and Government officials and private persons who depend on the “war on drugs” fear people like me who know the truth! Yet, the worst part of our Governments “war on drugs” that creates all this misery is that it’s a failure anyway; I’m smoking a joint as I write this commentary and I nor the millions like me have a problem obtaining “marijuana” our preferred choice of intoxicants. So remember this rant the next time you read the government has put me in jail. Ask why?

The root of this evil, the CSA

In 1970 the 535 all white members of congress passed the Controlled Substance Act, which replaced the recently defeated Jim Crow laws and that stalwart of integrity President Richard Nixon signed it into law. What the CSA did was make dangerous drugs used, controlled and acceptable to white society legal while less dangerous substances used by minority cultures, controlled or originating in countries of colored people were made illegal. Perfect example: Tobacco/alcohol & Marijuana/cocaine. The CSA is the root of our racist war on drugs, which has caused the dis-enfranchisement and re-enslavement and imprisonment of millions of minorities mostly African-American. Today America imprisons far more Africans than South Africa did at the height of apartheid and currently enslaves more Africans thru our criminal justice system than were released from slavery in 1865! (4 million released in 1865, 4.4 million in some form of Gov’t custody currently) These figures can be directly linked to the CSA and greatly contribute to the statistics used by the Quitno Corp to list Camden as the most dangerous city in America. <– That’s what brother Ali-Sloan should have said!

The “War on Drugs” was created thru racism (google it) and is factually fought in a racist manner. The statistics used by the Quitno Corp to come to this conclusion that Camden is the most dangerous city in the nation are repeated nation-wide in minority communities. While Camden NJ may be ranked number 1 this year, minority communities thought the nation have the same problems and concerns and it’s no mistake its the results of a vile business. The “War on Drugs” is the new age JIM CROW, our prisons are just the concrete plantations of this era and the misery and harm caused to America’s minority society in general is acceptable to the white majority who profit from it.

Many of our law enforcement agencies depend on the “WAR ON DRUGS” for their existence and the legal profession from whence all of our politicians come from has made it the mainstay of its business. It’s no mistake that lawyer/politicians are always advocating increasing the intensity of this “war on us”, it’s a business plan. A full prison is a profitable prison; we now have privately owned prisons in America! To the detriment of communities like Camden who lose there men and women to the concrete plantations, and its kids to the poverty and single parent households created by the Whiteman’s prison business. Our community’s kids are being primed as future chattel. Without the racist war on drugs there would be no need for 60% of police officers/sheriff’s, 75% of prosecutors/public defenders, prison correction officers, nor the contracts they generate. It’s more profitable to the majority population to have more minorities in the penitentiary than the University of Penn.

Our Government lie’s to terrorize our citizens into accepting and maintaining this racist “WAR on Drugs” and has been doing so for 30+ years. Do you think the lie’s about WMD’s was the first time our Government has lied to its people? No lying by Government officials has been perfected within the drug war for the last 30 years and recently successfully used to enlist citizen support for our President and his crusade into Muslim lands. Anyone who wants to look into the history our nations Drug Prohibition would learn that it was contrived thru racism; unfortunately no-one really cares or believes the truth. The truth is illegal drugs kill less than 20,000 people a year (even though millions use them) while legal drugs like tobacco kills 400,000+ yearly, alcohol kills over 120,000 and legally prescribed drugs kill over 100,000 so our war on drugs isn’t really about harm reduction. Infact aspirin kill’s twice as many people every year as PCP and LSD combined while marijuana kills zero ever but the Government falsely calls marijuana dangerous and outlaws it. (New England Journal of Medicine/July 1998)

Politicians know anytime a prohibition is created, a black market is also created. For instance in our Governments previous attempt at prohibiting the drug of choice of our nation’s majority race: Alcohol. It was quickly realized that the prohibition caused more harm to this segment of the population than good. White boys started killing each other and the modern MOB was created. Italians boys were killing Irish boys, Irish boys were killing German boys and Jews were killing Italians in short it was a mess caused by the Governments prohibition and everyone knew it.

White mothers and Christian organizations screamed to repeal the alcohol law(s). Our then all white Congress decided to repeal the alcohol prohibition because of the harms it was inflicting on their own communities. Today our mostly white congress refuses to repeal the CSA because by and large it’s the sons and daughters of minority communities that are being killed or imprisoned as a result of this (drug) prohibition. This is one of the reasons I call it a “RACIST WAR”.

Here’s another. The Quitno Corporation report also lists cities like Newton, Mass., Brick Township N.J. and Dover Township N.J. as the safest cities in the nation. There is no doubt in my mind I could obtain any drug I wanted in these cities also, within minutes of arriving but there also isn’t a ongoing Government war in these cities destroying the communities and the people there like in the minority cities mentioned. These are Government, “drug safe zones”. As long as you don’t cause a problem in lily white cities such as these you can do what you want in these communities, there are no county government paramilitary drug task forces operating there nor are there teams of under-cover narco’s looking to imprison you.

The Brothers and Sista’s of Camden and Communities like Camden across the nation just aren’t important enough to be protected from this Government inflicted atrocity on our communities! U.S. Attorney General John Ashcroft has declared that he wants to escalate it. “I want to renew it,” he told CNN’s Larry King. “I want to refresh it, relaunch it if you will.” And our faith crazed Bush has vowed to continue to fight the (racist) drug war in a similar fashion to his misguided crusade into Iraq, like he was on some mission from his “GOD”. John Walters, the drug czar, and Asa Hutchinson, the head of the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA), are promising ever more interdiction, incarceration and arrests. Which means worsening conditions for Camden and cities like it?

Instead of minority mothers rising up and ending this prohibition, like white mothers 70 years ago did they weep and attend church and funerals. Our black church leaders look to the bible instead of the reality of the situation, our government’s policies amount to JIM CROWISM. Instead of our traditional civil rights organizations like the NAACP speaking out about this institutional racism and organizing resistance, confusingly they condone it and ridicule brothers like me. Local black leaders like Ali-Sloan and Peter Harvey are more concerned about their political careers and what the white political money/power brokers think than they are about our brothers and sisters being killed or imprisoned as a result of the CSA and the Whiteman’s concrete plantation businesses. I say wake up black people legalize drugs and end the racist “WAR ON US”.

 “NJWEEDMAN.COM”

I am the founder of the Legalize Marijuana Party and have run for various state, county and federal offices. This year I ran for Congress in the 3rd district under the U.S. Marijuana Party and obtained more votes (7,354 ) than any other 3rd party candidate state-wide!

I once tried to change my name to NJWEEDMAN.COM as a means to get people to read my opinions on the “RACIST WAR ON DRUGS” and it was blocked by Government officials attempting to silence me.  My hope is you will run this “RANT” in full and use the name I have chosen for myself instead of the name the Government forces me to continue to use as a means of lessening my ability to reach others.

Nothing I say in this commentary is false, but it’s political incorrect to say and I doubt you’ll print it but I want you to. If I were from China, Korea or Cuba and was treated by my Government as the U.S. Government/New Jersey government has treated me for speaking out against my nations Policies the U.S. Press would call me a “dissident” and rightfully term my imprisonments “political”.

AS USUAL, MY OPINION WASN’T PRINTED.

ITS TO POLITICALLY INCORRECT

Remake Camden into a  International Tourist City

Legalize: Marijuana/Hash/Cannabis

(Camden NJ )-Is a minority city of 85,000 located in Southern New Jersey directly across the historic Delaware River from Center City Philadelphia. Camden at onetime was a viable productive manufacturing city, but a combination of government policies and white flight have reduced Camden City to a huge minority Ghetto.

During the 70's Government policies like welfare and the "War on Drugs"  turned Camden, and many minority cities into "War-Zones". Private business were encouraged to leave through Government programs like (OPIC) which sent business's overseas, nation-wide. Suburban (white) communities competed with inter cities for revenue producing business's and also drew business's and jobs out of the city. Property owner's where forced to reduce rents and sale prices, city tax revenue shriveled. Large business's like Campbell soup, RCA and the Port of Camden moved away along with job's and hope.

During the 80's the Republican lead US government instituted disastrous policies such as stepping up the so-called "war on drugs", and creating propaganda, pro-war mis-information  campaign's such as "Just say No", and DARE. These policies helped create vast criminal networks and drug distribution organizations which fought over turf, and settled disputes with violence nationwide because they couldn't turn to the legal court system. These disputes and open - air drug markets created by the government policies then drove many middle class minorities out to the suburbs. Cities like Camden were hit hard by these ASININE policies. Camden's revenue base and stable population evaporated, off to the burbs! Parents moved their kids away from the violence associated with these illegal drug organizations. These organizations are the direct result of the governments failed drug policies. The violence is not drug induced it's profit, and greed inspired. Just as the alcohol prohibition created huge problems in white communities during the alcohol prohibition - the current prohibition (War on Drugs) has created the same problems in minority communities, while the white community and population profit of this government created misery. Camden's revenue base and much of it's stable middle class minority productive population also evaporated, off to the burbs! As much fleeing the drug organizations as they were fleeing the police, and police tactics and policies.

By the 90's Camden became a virtual police state, as many inter-cities are. Minority males were/are encouraged to remain in the city by practices such as highway Racial profiling. Many Camden City minority males fear venturing out of the city during daylight hours for fear of being accosted by state and suburban police who are always on the look-out for them. They watch for all Urban Minorities, ask Col. Carl Williams.

 RACIAL PROFILING
Col.Williams St Police

While minority women are given jobs and training while males are incarcerated and ruined by our drug policies. Creating a family problem, fatherless homes. Or homes with welfare mothers as the head. (Welfare doesn't help families with men around). Which then creates a catch 22 for the males. They are ruined by the drug policies, are unacceptable as employee's in (the white world) mainstream employment circle's. Can't find a decent job, are discouraged from marrying  by welfare rules. - Our women are then given jobs while we aren't. Yet, we can make a decent wage as employee's of drug organization's or earn huge profits as the head of your own independent distribution. Eventually independent distributors are set upon by the larger organizations. Self defense is required you can't tell the police your drug business is being overtaken by a larger drug business. Violence results.

Where am I going with all this. Make Camden A legalization zone! The most commonly used illegal substance is marijuana. Legalize it! Do you think one-day you will wake -up and see headlines across the country saying the "war has been won" - not by the government! At some point this country is going to wake-up to the harm and destruction it's policies have done to "we the People", and they will be ended. The "War" can only be won by "We the people". Cities like Camden NJ should get a head-start. We can become a international city.

International Cities like Amsterdam, and Kingston Jamaica attract millions of tourist each year who are seeking the quasi-legal product of marijuana, hash, or cannabis.  Camden could create a “hash house zone”, similar to Atlantic City's Casino zone.

Here in New Jersey we have a little experience with such zones, 30 years ago gambling was considered a scourge now 15+ huge casino's bring in huge profits to the state with little crime associated with it. Camden which is located at the opposite end of the Atlantic City Expressway could open huge jazz center's or theater like music center's with operating hash house's located in each. Smaller venture's would be encouraged to open along designated routes leading up to the large place's. roads such as Mickle Blvd., Haddon Ave., and Admiral Wilson Blvd. could be renamed, hash ave, cannabis drive and Marijuana Blvd.

NJ State Aquarium

Camden already has the Sony Entertainment Center (Sony E Center), this facility could reap huge profits booking international Jazz and Reggae concerts. These concerts would compete with Las Vegas, compliment Atlantic City and bring huge revenue into Camden's sparse tax coffer's not to mention the over-all attractiveness of the Philadelphia Camden waterfront.

Imagine if the Battleship New Jersey, the State Aquarium, and the Sony E center also had Amsterdam like hash house's and music theater's. Along with a couple of national hotel chains. Camden City would suddenly be a international tourist attraction like Amsterdam, Monaco, Frankfurt, Atlantic City. Of course with all this you'd also have to legalize Prostitution which I really think should be legal too. Both marijuana and prostitution are here to stay, no amount of self righteous moral turpitude will change it, but we could legalize it.

The city then should also request of all new business's to have a residency policy to employ city dwellers first. The employer's would be asked to work with the city in placing residents with drug arrest records in good paying jobs. With the “drug employee’s working legal jobs, street sales would virtually disappear making the city safer. The drug dealers of today would go away like the illegal number's men went away with the advent of state lotteries and legalized gambling.

People are going to use marijuana no-matter what the government does. I’m smoking a joint as I write this! Marijuana is as wanted a commodity in the community as alcohol or tobacco but is much safer and all natural. The problem is Caucasians/Christians don't control it. So they demonize it and have kept it illegal for decades.

PS- I'm just tripping a little, smoking a lot, maybe even going a little crazy out of the fear I have of going to the white man’s “concrete plantation”. But anyway my “CAMDEN CITY PLAN” would work if ever tried. Camden would become a AMSTERDAM like US marijuana tourist attraction instead of the GHETTO it is now.

While the cost of drug rehab at some facilities can be very high, there are rehabilitation centers which offer more affordable rates.
